BSNL Bharat Fiber (FTTH) won customers’ hearts and added more over 11.29 lakh new connections, according to the May 2021 TRAI Report.

As per the latest information, BSNL added more than 11.29 lakh new wireline subscribers in the month of May 2021.

Hello to the whole BSNL staff! The most recent TRAI Telecom subscription report for May 2021 is welcomed by BSNL and BSNL supporters all around India. The most recent data indicates that in May 2021, BSNL gained more than 11.29 lakh new landline users.

BSNL’s market share for the wireline subscriber base grew thanks to this outstanding performance, rising from 35.13% in April 2021 to 35.43% in May 2021. After a protracted length of time, the net wireline subscriber base of BSNL demonstrated favorable outcomes, and that too with flying colors. For BSNL, Bharat Fiber (FTTH) is the true game-changer. With the assistance and active involvement of LCOs/TIPs/MSOs, BSNL was able to activate new FTTH connections throughout all of India, including in rural and isolated locations.

Reliance Jio came in second with a net positive customer acquisition of just 1,77,959 members, while BSNL was able to attract 11,29,080 new wireline users overall. With just 17,570 new net positive customers, Vodafone Idea is in third place. In May 2021, when they could only add 4013 net positive subscribers, Bharti Airtel was nevertheless able to sustain net positive customer addition.

Total Wireline Subscribers in India

BSNL and MTNL, the two PSU access service providers, held 48.72% of the wireline market share as on 31st May, 2021.

At the end of May 2021, there were 21.66 million total wireline customers, up from 20.36 million at the end of April 2021. 1.30 million more wireline subscribers were added overall, growing at a 6.40% monthly pace. At the end of May 2021, the proportion of urban and rural customers to all wireline subscribers was 90.93% and 9.07%, respectively.

The Overall Wireline Tele-density in India increased from 1.49% at the end of April 2021 to 1.59% at the end of May 2021. Urban and Rural Wireline Tele-density were 4.17% and 0.22% respectively during the same period.

Broadband Market Share as on May 2021

With a monthly fall rate of 0.33%, the number of broadband users fell from 782.86 million at the end of April 2021 to 780.27 million at the end of May 2021. At the end of May 2021, the top five service providers accounted for 98.80% of all broadband users. These companies offered services in:

  1. Reliance Jio
  2. Infocomm Ltd (434.23 million)
  3. Bharti Airtel (192.73 million)
  4. Vodafone Idea (119.64 million)
  5. BSNL (22.47 million) and
  6. Atria
  7. Convergence (1.87 million)

Top Wired Broadband Service Providers in India

By May 31st, 2021, BSNL (6.03 million subscribers), Bharti Airtel (3.24 million subscribers), Reliance Jio InfoComm Ltd (3 million subscribers), Atria Convergence Technologies (1.87 million subscribers), and Hathway Cable & Datacom (1.07 million) were the top five wired broadband service providers.

As of May 31, 2021, Reliance Jio Infocom Ltd. (431.23 million subscribers), Bharti Airtel (189.49 million subscribers), Vodafone Idea (119.63 million subscribers), BSNL (16.44 million subscribers), and Tikona Infinet Ltd. (0.32 million subscribers) were the top five cellular broadband service providers.

Total Wireless subscribers in India

Total wireless subscribers decreased from 1,183.11 million at the end of April21 to 1,176.84 million at the end of May-21, thereby registering a monthly decline rate of 0.53%. As on 31st May 2021, the private access service providers held 89.83% market share of the wireless subscribers whereas BSNL and MTNL, the two PSU access service providers, had a market share of only 10.17%.

Net Addition & Growth in Wireless Subscribers

With the exception of West Bengal, all service regions had a fall in cellular customers in May 2021. In May 2021, Reliance Jio added 35,54,722 new mobile users. In fact, Jio is the only provider that will continue to attract net new customers in May 2021.

During the same time period, negative growth was experienced by all other private mobile carriers, including the state-run telecoms MTNL and BSNL. In May 2021, Reliance Communications lost 309 clients. In May 2021, BSNL and MTNL, the two state-owned service providers, lost 2,436 and 9,30814 users, respectively. Mobile subscribers fell dramatically for Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel in May 2021. In May 2021, Vodafone Idea lost 42,81,532 mobile subscribers and Airtel lost 46,13,521 mobile users.
