In Roesrath, Open German Fiber is beginning to build out a fiber-optic network.

Open German Fiber and Novanetz will install FTTH connections in Kleineichen.

The first completed neighbourhood east of Cologne, Klein Eichen, will receive Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) connections thanks to a collaboration between Open German Fiber and NovaNET. Residents who sign a letter of intent for the NovaNET Internet service are eligible for free installation of a fiber optic connection thanks to the cooperation.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Together, Open German Fiber and Novanetz build FTTH connections in Kleineichen, Germany.
  • If they signed a pre-agreement with Novanetz during the initial marketing period, residents will shortly get an order confirmation.
  • The fiber-optic network will be installed there for no cost when about 40% of Forsbach residents sign up for NovaNET internet.

The first area east of Cologne that is prepared for it is Klein Eichen, and Open German Fiber, a collaboration of Primevest Capital Partners (owning 20%), MEAG (40%), and AVWL (40%), is working with NovaNET to deploy fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) connections there.

Thanks to the collaboration, anybody in Kleineichen who contracted with Novanetz during the initial marketing phase will shortly get an order confirmation. Residents who want to benefit from the complimentary installation of a fiber-optic connection should submit an agreement immediately away.

Free Installation of Fiber

The Open German Fiber-funded fiber-optic network will also be deployed in Forsbach without charging any installation costs to the residents if about 40% of the households have signed pre-agreements for a NovaNET internet service. Agreements must be submitted by June 30, 2023.

Reliable Fiber-optic Internet Connection

A fiber-optic network must be installed there in order to give every residence in the area a stable fibre-optic internet connection. In order to do this, a cutting-edge network that is independent of existing infrastructure must be implemented in place of the commonly utilized copper and cable technologies. With the development of new infrastructure, it is planned that a supply network would traverse suburbs and neighborhoods, connecting every home with a fiber-optic link.

The residents of Kleineichen and Forsbach will be responsible for funding Open German Fiber’s initial phase. Residents are urged to seize this opportunity for a contemporary, linked, and future-proof Roesrath.

An active communications network is financed by Open German Fiber.

German Fiber Solution (GFS) will be the major contractor for network installation. Open German Fiber will invest in the passive communications network when the pre-marketing limit is reached. Following that, the internet service provider NovaNET, which specializes in fiber connections, will manage the active fiber-optic network.

All partners hope to build a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network in the following years so that every citizen in the municipality of Roesrath will have access to fiber optics in significant areas of the community. Future plans also call for the project to be promptly and gradually expanded to further communities.
