Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the largest landline service provider in India, has decided to discontinue its Economy (old) landline plan with an FMC of Rs. 150, effective from December 1 forward in all telecom circles.

For clients in rural areas, the Economy (old) plan is a different landline package that is now offered in all telecom circles, regardless of the system capacity. As we previously mentioned, BSNL upgraded their Economy (old) plan on May 1st, 2015, adding the unlimited free night calling feature.

Economy (old) landline plan will no longer be offered as of December 1st, 2016.

  • Fixed Monthly Fees: 150 rupees
  • 150 unmetered call units (MCUs) for free
  • Application: Rural clients can take advantage of a special landline plan.

Existing members of this plan are free to switch to any other plan of their choosing. If a subscriber does not choose another plan, after adhering to TRAI criteria, his number may be changed into the General Plan of the relevant area.
