BSNL introduces SMS-based defect booking service for landlines and internet.

In all telecom circles, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced an SMS-based defect booking service for its clients who use landlines and internet. Only BSNL Mobile numbers may access older SMS-based services using the SMS short code 53334.

These services are now accessible through SMS long code 94780 53334 from the cell phones of other providers. The following services are accessible by SMS: Landline fault booking, broadband fault booking, bill inquiry, registration of a mobile number or email address, registration for email bill facility, etc.
Customers can email the necessary Keyword in the proper format to 53334 (from BSNL mobile phones) or 94780 53334 (from non-BSNL mobile numbers) to request information or file a complaint.

The syntax for scheduling broadband faults is BFT space>STD Code-Tel No> (for example, BFT 0471-2654321), whereas the syntax for booking landline faults is FLT space>STD Code-Tel No> (for example, FLT 0471-2654321). BILL space>STD Code-Tel No>space>Billing Account No> is the syntax for bill inquiries (for example, BILL 0471-2654321 9010203040).

The system will send a message acknowledging receipt of the customers’ SMS, along with a reference number for the defect booking that may be used for future investigation.

Dear readers, we would appreciate hearing your thoughts on the new service that BSNL has introduced in the comments section.
