BSNL activated more than 11 lakh new mobile connections at a monthly growth rate of 1.27%, according to the October 2016 TRAI Report Card.

BSNL has improved its performance since Free All India Roaming Scheme.

The most recent telecom subscriber data for the month of October 2016 was released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). According to the most recent data, BSNL, a major state-run telecom company, activated more than 11 lakh new mobile connections and saw a 1.27% monthly growth rate.

As of October 2016, BSNL, the nation’s fourth-largest mobile provider, has an 8.80% market share. Since the commencement of the FREE All India Roaming Scheme in July 2015, BSNL has consistently improved its performance in terms of cellular subscriber addition and monthly growth rate.

As of October 31, 2016, private access service providers had 90.86% of the wireless subscriber market, compared to 9.14% held by BSNL and MTNL, the two PSU access service providers.

With a monthly growth rate of 2.67%, India’s total number of telephone customers climbed from 1074.24 million at the end of September 2016 to 1102.94 million at the end of October 2016.

At the end of October 2016, there were 1078.42 million wireless subscribers worldwide, up from 1049.74 million at the end of September 2016. This is a monthly growth rate of 2.73%.

With 56.60% of the market share in the landline sector, BSNL is the industry leader. As of October 31, 2016, Airtel held the top spot in the broadband sector (Wired + Wireless) with a market share of 22.05%, followed by Vodafone with 18.40%.

With a monthly growth rate of 13.59%, the total number of broadband users in India climbed from 192.30 million at the end of September 2016 to 218.42 million at the end of October 2016. At the end of October 2016, the top five service providers held a market share of 80.36% of all broadband users. Bharti Airtel had 48.17 million customers, Vodafone had 40.19 million, Idea Cellular had 29.76 million, Reliance Jio InfoComm had 35.94 million, and BSNL had 21.46 million.

With 9.94 million users, BSNL occupies the top spot in the wired broadband market, followed by Bharti Airtel with 1.95 million.

As of October 31, 2016, the top five wireless broadband service providers

  2. Vodafone (40.19 million) is second.
  3. Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. (35.64)
  4. Fourth-placed Idea Cellular (29.76 million)
  5. Fifth (16.95 million) Reliance Communications

Portability of Mobile Numbers (MNP)

4.93 million customers in total requested MNP for the month of October 2016. So, from 239.46 million at the end of September 2016 to 244.39 million at the end of October 2016, the total number of MNP requests grew.
