Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the country’s main provider of telecom services, and Facebook have inked an MoU (Memorandum of Understandings) to offer Express Wi-Fi internet connection in rural India.

According to the most recent information, BSNL would give Facebook capacity for its Express Wi-Fi initiative, which was designed to close the digital divide and was implemented across the nation in distant and hilly areas with poor connectivity.

Anupam Shrivastava, the CEO of BSNL, declared: “BSNL inked the first MoU with Facebook. In accordance with this MoU, BSNL will offer back-haul connection to the numerous ISPs it serves. With their complimentary capabilities, both groups will profit.

Facebook’s famous Express Wi-Fi initiative calls for the installation of 20,000 Wi-Fi hotspots around the nation. In 2015, Express Wi-Fi was tested in more than 25 villages in India. For its Wi-Fi initiative, Facebook has already secured deals with other ISPs including Tikona and Bharti Airtel.

Facebook Regional Head Mr. Munish Seth stated: “BSNL is thrilled to announce that it is partnering with Facebook to provide internet back-haul connection for its Express Wi-Fi Program in order to realize the goal of Digital India. As a result of this agreement, Facebook’s Express Wi-Fi ISP partners across India will be able to take advantage of the BSNL network’s extensive coverage to assist provide local communities fast, dependable, and economical Wi-Fi internet services at even lower costs. We are eager to collaborate more closely with Facebook to connect India.

By joining up with an Express Wi-Fi shop and purchasing a daily, weekly, or monthly data pack, anybody may use Facebook’s Express Wi-Fi network. Then, in accordance with the purchased data pack, customers may log in, register for an account, connect to the Express Wi-Fi hotspot, and begin surfing or using any app on the entire internet.
