According to the most recent data By assuming control of MTNL’s mobile network, BSNL began operations in Delhi and Mumbai.

As we reported earlier, DoT granted Unified License to BSNL on 10th December 2020 in all the 22 telecom circles in India including Delhi & Mumbai for a period of 20 years.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a public telecom corporation, has started in Delhi and Mumbai and will begin acquiring the MTNL mobile network on January 1, 2021. The DoT BSNL issued a single license in all 22 telecom circuits in India, including Delhi & Bombay, for 20 years on December 10, 2020, as was previously announced.

According to the most recent information, starting on January 1, 2021, BSNL would operate as an external agency to manage MTNL’s mobile network operations. On October 27, 2020, BSNL CMD sent a proposal to the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) in this respect. On December 15, 2020, the Additional Secretary (DoT) and Directors of BSNL and MTNL had a thorough discussion about such idea.

DoT asked CMD BSNL in a letter dated December 31, 2020 to begin managing MTNL’s mobile network in Delhi and Mumbai as its outsourced agency on January 1, 2021. DoT additionally directed CMD BSNL to finish all processes as soon as possible. Additionally, it is said that MTNL would continue to be in charge of ensuring regulatory compliance for the LSAs in Delhi and Mumbai.

This suggests that MTNL would keep offering mobile services to its customers in Delhi and Mumbai using its present network. However, MTNL mobile network operations will be managed by BSNL staff. There won’t be any changes from the consumer’s perspective because the DoT has made it clear that MTNL serves in this position and will be in responsible of all regulatory reporting and compliance.

Areas Covered by MTNL: Delhi & Mumbai LSAs

While Mumbai’s service area would encompass New Mumbai and Kalyan, Delhi’s service regions covered the National Capital Region (NCR) such as Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad.

As we’ve previously said, users in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) may experience smooth connection owing to a cooperation between BSNL and Vodafone. While in the Delhi & NCR zone, BSNL prepaid and post-paid mobile users have access to the Vodafone Delhi mobile network in addition to MTNL roaming. A BSNL customer would be charged Rs. 0.45/minute when they utilize M/s Vodafone as their VLMN when roaming in Delhi. Both prepaid and post-paid BSNL mobile users are subject to the aforementioned rates/tariffs.

In order to register for and take part in the next 4G contract, BSNL launched an EoI (Expression of Interest) on January 1, 2021. Approximately 57,000 tower sites, including the LSAs in Mumbai and Delhi, will host the BSNL launch of the fourth generation 4G network.
