According to the most recent information on technology, Mahindra intends to test 4G on B SNL’s network.

Tech Mahindra plans to build and run 4G or 5G network in India.

Tech Mahindra, one of India’s leading multinational IT companies, is planning to increase its presence in the Indian telecom sector and claims that it is capable of deploying and operating a complete 4G and even 5G network in India.

Tech Mahindra has already formed a collaboration with Rakuten, a newly established telecom firm in Japan that specializes in e-commerce and online shopping. According to reports, Rakuten has created the first completely virtualized mobile network in the world, allowing for lower capital expenditures and operating expenses, allowing the operator to pass the savings along to its consumers.

We can construct and manage a whole 4G and 5G network, as well as any enterprise network, according to Sri Manish Vyas, President of Tech Mahindra’s Communications, Media & Entertainment Business and CEO of Network Services. We have already completed it. We bring to the table our expertise in designing various components of the network in a disaggregated world, as well as in planning, integrating, deploying, and managing the whole suite of network capabilities.

Tech Mahindra is now collaborating with all three of India’s commercial telecom providers, and it will submit a bid for the updated 4G BSNL procurement. As part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat or self-reliant India program, Tech Mahindra has entered into an arrangement with ITI Limited to manufacture 4G equipment in India that can be upgraded to 5G. The business also intends to create a JV with regional businesses in support of BSNL’s updated 4G programme.

“BSNL is a crucial component in the early telecom revolution. It deserves a chance to hold onto and develop further. It’s a fantastic chance to attempt to develop a world-class solution now that 5G is imminent. Only cutting-edge technology and a world-class attitude could make it possible, according to Vyas.

ITI and Tech Mahindra’s proof-of-concept proposal for 4G trails

According to the most recent information, ITI and Tech Mahindra have filed their proposal to test the 4G solution’s Proof of Concept (PoC) on the BSNL network. At Bengaluru, they want to do 4G trials. With new macro eNodeBs, the experiment will be run on the current 2G, 3G, and 4G BSNL sites. A core network and 25 4G eNodeBs with three sectors will be used for the testing. The solution being tested employs virtualized core Open-RAN (ORAN) specifications.

Interoperability with 2G & 3G

The proposed paradigm supports Circuit Switched Fallback (CSFB) and Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (SRVCC) for 2G and 3G networks. The trail will include interoperability tests on the current wireless and wireline eco-system of the BSNL network as well as ubiquitous delivery of high-quality Mobile Broadband (MBB), Voice over LTE (VoLTE), and significant 4G services.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) requested that the state-run company refrain from using Chinese telecom equipment, which led to the cancellation of BSNL’s tender for a 4G upgrade in July 2020. Chinese firms will not be included in the new offer, which will place an emphasis on the “Make in India” initiative. BSNL sought to convert about 49,300 mobile towers to 4G as part of the Phase IX network development. A prior investment by Tech Mahindra was made in Altiostar, a US startup that creates software that enables virtualization solutions on 4G and 5G networks, allowing telcos to construct end-to-end web-scale cloud native networks. In India, Bharti Airtel has used the Altiostar solution.
