According to the most recent information, network improvements have been made, and Zayo has announced its first on-demand connectivity service.

Zayo added 5,200 route miles, 1.35M fiber miles, and 8 long-haul construction projects.

Announced. Zayo has announced a variety of network and service additions and upgrades, including network security, on-demand connectivity, the development of long-haul dark fiber, and IP core network modernisation. The method that services are provided to clients has also been enhanced by Zayo.

Announced. Zayo Group Holdings, a global provider of communications infrastructure, has announced a number of network and service expansions and improvements. Strengthened network security, a first for the sector’s on-demand connection service, increased long-haul dark fiber and 400G-capable routes, and modernization of its IP core network are among the improvements.

Security Enhancements

Announced. By mandating two-factor authentication for BGP route management, Zayo has increased the level of security protection for its clients. As a result, Zayo is one of the first suppliers of communications infrastructure to use 2FA for BGP updates. In order to secure the internet’s routing architecture, the corporation has also implemented Resource Public Key architecture (RPKI) filtering. By taking these steps, Zayo hopes to increase security for all internet users and stop malicious or unintentional route hijacking by undesirable actors.

Providing an On-Demand Network

Announced. Zayo is introducing “Waves on Demand,” an industry-first that enables same-day turn-up on the most in-demand routes with dramatically reduced delivery times, for large bandwidth clients who require data center access quickly and easily. Customers may now swiftly provision “Wavelength on Demand” between important data center sites across Zayo’s industry-leading network footprint thanks to this service. Zayo introduced 8 new Waves on Demand routes in 2023, and an additional 5 routes are scheduled to be introduced later.

Zayo’s Network Growth

  • More than 1.35M fiber miles were added to Zayo’s network in 2022 with the addition of 5,200 route miles.
  • Currently, Zayo has 145 100G-enabled PoPs and 224 400G-enabled points of presence (PoPs).
  • With 24 long-haul waves lines and 926TB of wavelength capacity implemented by Zayo in 2022, 400G services are now available along these routes, which cover more than 20,000 route miles. Zayo expects to construct more new long-haul dark fiber routes in 2023 than it did in 2022.
  • In 2023, Zayo will finish 8 long-distance building projects totaling 2,951 route miles and 708,000 fiber miles.
  • In 2023, Zayo plans to finish 32 400G lines, with 14 of those routes expected to be finished in the first half of the year.

400G Connectivity

Additionally, Zayo is updating its IP Core to allow 400G connection, which will improve routing speed, reliability, and bandwidth while also lowering customer costs. For next-generation IP Core connection, the business has teamed with Juniper Networks, a pioneer in IP networking, cloud computing, and linked security solutions.

Enhance Customer Experience and Service Delivery

In order to streamline consumer interactions with Zayo, the company has revamped procedures and automated other parts of them. Since making these adjustments, the business experienced its biggest install quarter ever in Q4 2022. Over 16 million fiber miles and 139,000 route miles make up Zayo’s network.
