According to the most recent information, Jio and Airtel will likely control the Indian telecom business in the near future.

Jio & Airtel added more subscribers in wireless and wireline segments in the country

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the latest telecom subscription data for the month of October 2020. Jio and Airtel are the two operators that added the maximum number of new subscribers both in the Wireless and Wireline segments in October 2020.

This latest TRAI report is a clear sign of market consolidation which is about to happen in the Indian telecom market in the coming days. It is expected that the entire telecom market will get consolidated to a maximum of 3 or 4 operators where Jio & Airtel are supposed to take the leading role. In the last few months, Jio started adding wireline subscribers at a faster rate which helped them to improve their wireline market share to 11.63% as of 31st October 2020.

More users are interested in wired broadband access than wireless or mobile broadband after the Covid-19 pandemic breakout. Because to wireless technology’s bandwidth limitations and the exponential growth in the overall number of internet users during this epidemic, this is the case. Wired internet, particularly FTTH, offers guaranteed bandwidth and stability that may be utilized efficiently for online learning, working from home, etc. as opposed to wireless broadband.
