A1 Slovenia will switch off 3G mobile Network from June 2023.

A1 Slovenia will discontinue its 3G mobile network on June 30, 2023, as part of its sustainability strategy and mobile network evolution, in line with international trends in network installations. According to the telco, users won’t notice any change.


  • The country’s largest 5G network is being built by A1 Slovenia.

A1 Slovenija, part of A1 Telekom Group and Slovenia’s second-largest telecom operator, is building the largest 5G network in the country, with the technology already covering 70% of the population. By the end of 2025, the company plans to make the 5G Network available to 98% of the population.

A1 Slovenia Building Capacity Network

A1 Slovenia is growing its capacity to accommodate the rapid increase in mobile internet traffic while simultaneously expanding its network. 25% of A1 Slovenia users currently use 5G technology everyday, transmitting up to twice as much data as those using the 4G/LTE network. 5G technology allows quicker data transmission, improved responsiveness, and a more reliable connection.

A1 Slovenija to Switch Off 3G Network.

A1 Slovenia will turn down its 3G mobile network on June 30, 2023, in accordance with worldwide trends in network installations as part of its sustainability plan and mobile network development. The 3G Network has already been replaced by the more contemporary and dependable 4G/LTE and 5G networks, which offer quicker data transmission, higher responsiveness, and better-quality voice communication and VoLTE capability. As a result, users won’t notice any change. The operator claimed that 4G/LTE and 5G networks handle more than 98% of data traffic.

3G Network Traffic Redirection

The operator claims that when 3G networks are no longer available, voice traffic will be automatically routed to 2G networks and data traffic to 4G/LTE and 5G networks. As a result, the operator advises switching to newer gadgets that operate on 4G/LTE or 5G networks in place of older ones.

2G Devices

If customers don’t change the device, they will be able to make calls and send messages on the 2G network. However, users will experience slower data speeds on 2G.
