At WWDC in June, Apple will unveil new MacBook models, including the 15-inch MacBook Air.

Apple is expected to announce new MacBook models and macOS 14 at WWDC in June.

Along with the new MacBook models, Apple is reportedly also working on a revamped MacBook Pro with a bigger 16-inch display and a more powerful M1X CPU. The exact date of this model’s arrival is unknown, and it’s likely that no announcement will be made until much later in the year.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • A bigger 15-inch MacBook Air is supposedly one of the upcoming MacBook models Apple is developing.
  • According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June will see the announcement of at least some of these new laptops.
  • During the WWDC keynote on June 5, Apple is anticipated to release the most recent version of its macOS operating system, presumably dubbed macOS 14.

Rumors suggest that Apple is working on a variety of new MacBook models, including a 15-inch MacBook Air with a larger screen and upgraded 13-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro versions. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, at least a couple of these new laptops will be introduced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.

Although Gurman admits that the specs of these new models are unclear, he makes the assumption that they won’t be powered by the long-rumored next-generation M3 chip but rather processors “in line with” Apple’s current M2 chip. This suggests that the 15-inch MacBook Air will be powered by the M2 processor, although it’s unclear what this means for the updated 13-inch devices, which already have the M2 chip.

For months, there have been rumors of a bigger MacBook Air, and it now seems that the laptop is almost ready for purchase. For the new model, Apple’s suppliers are said to have expanded manufacturing of 15-inch display panels. The gadget has also just been discovered in App Store developer logs.

Apple is expected to unveil the latest version of its macOS operating system, likely called macOS 14, during the WWDC keynote on June 5. Gurman does not anticipate any major changes to the operating system, however, so users should not expect any major new features or interface overhauls.

In addition to the new MacBook models, a revamped MacBook Pro with a bigger 16-inch display and a more powerful M1X CPU is also reportedly in the works at Apple. The release date of this model is unknown, and it’s conceivable that it won’t be shown until later this year.
